Sweden’s largest solar cell generating facility produces green
electricity at Ullevi
In April a 680 square metre solar-powered generating facility will start
producing eco-friendly electricity at Ullevi. It will generate
sufficient electricity every year to meet Ullevi’s annual energy
consumption for all lighting of the football pitch.
”We’re proud to have Sweden’s largest solar cell facility at Ullevi.
And although the green electricity it produces only meets a small
proportion of Ullevi’s total power requirements, it’s a major
contribution in the drive for long-term changes to the city’s energy
supply,” says Got Events Managing Director Thomas Torkelsson.

The City of Göteborg works actively to support positive ecological
and economic development in the region. Got Event is a wholly-owned
municipal company that works actively to minimise the environmental
imprint at its arenas – Ullevi, Scandinavium and Valhalla.

Financing
The investment totals 5.8 million kronor. The county administrative
board provided state investment aid totalling 4 million kronor, Higab (which
owns the Ullevi property) contributed 300,000 kronor and the Ekofonden
investment fund added another 250,000 kronor. Got Event has itself
provided 1.25 million kronor.
Construction
Sweden’s leading company in the field of renewable energy, Switchpower,
is the project coordinator. The solar cell modules are manufactured by
Gällivare PhotoVoltaic, GPV.
